On April 18, 1775, two lanterns shone from Boston’s Old North Church to warn of advancing British forces. Paul Revere, a dedicated patriot, embarked on a critical midnight ride. His mission:
- Alert colonists across Massachusetts
- Warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington
- Prevent British seizure of military supplies in Concord
Despite personal danger, Revere’s warning allowed the colonial leaders to prepare. Though captured en route to Concord, his warning was vital. Samuel Prescott and William Dawes continued to Concord, alerting the colonial militia in time.
