Three correctional officers at Virginia’s Wallens Ridge State Prison were attacked on May 2 by six inmates.
- Five attackers were MS-13 members from El Salvador, in the U.S. illegally, with convictions for violent crimes.
- The sixth inmate was a Sureno 13 member convicted of second-degree murder.
Medical treatment was required for five officers; three have been released, while two remain hospitalized in stable condition. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin expressed his support for the officers. MS-13 is one of the largest and most notorious gangs.
