Hubble Reveals Vibrant Clouds in Neighboring Galaxy

May 18, 2025 | International, Science, Technology

Hubble Space Telescope captured a mesmerizing image of cotton candy-like gas clouds in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a dwarf galaxy 160,000 light-years away. Located in the constellations Dorado and Mensa, this galaxy is the largest satellite of the Milky Way. Using the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) and five different filters, the image combines visible, ultraviolet, and infrared light. This portrayal of brightly colored clouds demonstrates the advanced capabilities of Hubble’s 2.4 m mirror and scientific instruments, translating cosmic scenes into vivid, multi-colored images despite colors being assigned to the filters.
