Texas AG Challenges School Curriculum’s Legal Boundaries

Mar 20, 2025 | Government, Law, Politics

Texas AG Ken Paxton is suing Coppell ISD for allegedly defying Gov. Greg Abbott’s ban on critical race theory (CRT) in schools.

The lawsuit follows a video by Accuracy in Media, showing Evan Whitfield, Coppell’s Director of Curriculum, admitting to bypassing the ban by claiming not to teach CRT. Paxton argues this curriculum is illegal and harmful and emphasizes adherence to state law. In related instances, he urged investigations into other districts circumventing laws on diversity and inclusion, alongside Abbott’s demand for immediate dismissals and investigations within school administrations.
