Le Pen was barred from running for office for five years by a Paris court for misappropriating over $3.27 million in E.U. funds. Trump labeled the decision a “witch hunt” orchestrated by “European Leftists” to stifle free speech. The court also sentenced Le Pen to four years in prison, describing her actions as a “serious and lasting attack on democratic rules in Europe, especially France.”
