The EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have initiated construction of a reinforced concrete perimeter wall at the Wyckoff/Eagle Harbor Superfund site on Bainbridge Island, Washington. This project aims to:
- Protect Puget Sound from ongoing contamination.
- Facilitate the cleanup of contaminated groundwater, soil, and sediments.
- Enable future redevelopment of the site into a public park with beach access.
The $63 million project commenced on April 18, 2025, and is scheduled for completion by April 2028. The new wall replaces a deteriorated steel sheet pile barrier to enhance environmental protection and community access.
